Choose rf absorber for anechoic chamber

Anechoic chambers are used for testing antennas, radar systems, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Choosing the right absorber is critical to achieving accurate and reliable test results.

1. Know Your Frequency Range
Different absorbing materials have different applications:
Ferrite tiles are ideal for 30 MHz to 1 GHz. Tiles offer good low-frequency reflectivity and are often used in EMC testing chambers.
When used with absorbers, they are usually matched with hybrid absorber(PE-HYT/HY type).
Pyramidal RF absorber(PE-PY types) provide premium performance over a very broad frequency range, it is the most widely used in all kinds of anechoic chamber.
High power handling absorber(PE-HP types) is used in area with high power.
Walkway absorber is used for people walking in microwave chamber.

2. Consider Chamber Design and Constraints
Taller RF absorbers provide better absorption but take up more room.

3. Fire Safety & Environmental Resistance
•Flame retardancy: Look for materials compliant with NRL report 8093 I, II, and III, or equivalent.
•Humidity and temperature resistance
•Aging-resistant

4. Budget & Supplier Support
While cost is a major consideration, don’t overlook:
•Installation and delivery support
•Warranty and material longevity
•Technical consultation
